As previously mentioned, Paul and I spent our third Visa Run in Milan, Italy. In accordance with our accidental tradition started on our Honeymoon which began in Vancouver, our first order of business was to eat lunch at Burger King. We got directions from the concierge of our hotel who didn't understand why we wanted BK instead of Italian food. We explained that we don't live in America and we really wanted new American food.
After locating our hotel and fueling up at BK, we headed out to the main square of town called Duomo Square, where we found this massive Duomo cathedral. We couldn't believe how big and gorgeous this place was. It was incredible every time we saw it. Up close on the doors and walls were hundreds of intricate mural carvings - wow! This place took over 500 years to be built and even now is still under construction to repair some of the original work. It is the 3rd largest Catholic cathedral in the world to Seville's cathedral and St. Peter's Basilica. Just to the right of this cathedral was our favorite stored called Mondadori's - it was like Best Buy & Barnes & Noble combined!

The next day, we visited the Castello Sforza or Sforza Castle. This was our favorite site to see because it was so beautiful and so old. Construction started on this castle in 1450 to house the royal family of Milan but today it is home to many museums and art collections. Unfortunately, they were all closed the day we visited - who closes museums on a Monday?! Maybe next time...

This fountain is out in front of the castle and this little lady thought it looked like a nice day for a swim. She was hunting Euros in here which I'm pretty sure is illegal - too funny!

Vespas and Minis were a common site on our trip.

It seems that everyone owns a Mini
Cooper or a moto of some sort - needless to say, Paul loved it! One thing we found funny was the melodic Italian accent. The accent sounded just like all the jokes we've heard about Italians and we giggled almost every time - not because it was funny, just because it didn't sound real.
Before we knew it, it was time to say 'Ciao' to Milan and 'Salaam' to our country. Cairo was glad we came back :)
